Subject: Remote server is not a known TCP/IP Host
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Administration
Platform: Windows 2003 server
Release: 8.5
Reproducible: Always

I am running Notes/Domino 8.5 EE on Win 2008 Server EE. I have a single server at the moment with a host name of mssfl.mssfl.us, which of course leaves me with a domain of mssfl.us.

In my console when the Notes/Domino Server comes up I get...
- Router: Mail Router started for domain mssfl.us
- Router: Internet SMTP Host mssfl.us in domain
mssfl.us
- Error connecting to server mssfl: The remote server is not a known TCP/IP host.

On my mail replication I get the error...
- The remote server is not a known TCP/IP host. Failed with mssfl.mssfl.us at time and date.

I initially thought a Windows Server update had changed the IIS port back to 80. I am using port 80 for the domino server. I disabled IIS on the Windows server and it didn't help. I am not aware of any changes that I made that would affect this. I get the same errors when I try to create a new ID. That's what brought all this fact finding about.

DNS entries appear to work because I can type in http://mssfl.us and get my home page on a browser.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

BIG thanks in advance,
Rick
